The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued heatwave alerts as several areas nationwide, including Kuala Lumpur, continue to experience prolonged hot weather.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Areas Under A Level 2 Heatwave

Three areas in Peninsular Malaysia: Pendang, Pokok Sena, and Baling in Kedah, are currently experiencing a Level 2 heatwave, with daily maximum temperatures ranging between 37ยฐC and 40ยฐC for three consecutive days.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Areas Under A Level 1 Heatwave

The affected areas are: 

  • Perlis
  • Kedah (Sik, Padang Terap, Kubang Pasu, Langkawi, Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu)
  • Penang (Northern Seberang Perai and northeast Penang Island)
  • Perak: (Hulu Perak, Selama, Kuala Kangsar, and Kinta)
  • Pahang: (Jerantut and Raub)
  • Kuala Lumpur

These areas have recorded daily maximum temperatures of between 35ยฐC and 37ยฐC for at least three consecutive days.

๐Ÿ”ฅ To Persist Until June

The heatwave is expected to persist until June, with temperatures peaking between mid-March and mid-April.


Malaysian Meteorological Department Director-General Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said this is a common end-of-monsoon phenomenon caused by reduced cloud cover and the sunโ€™s direct position over the region.

A total of 15 heat-related cases have been reported so far this year, including three cases of heatstroke and one death involving a child left in a vehicle, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Early Signs Of Heatstroke

Early signs of heatstroke can start mild but escalate quickly. Watch out for:


  • Persistent dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Unusual or intense thirst
  • Rising body temperature (often above 38โ€“40ยฐC)
  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fatigue or weakness
  • Muscle cramps
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Confusion or difficulty concentrating
  • Hot, flushed skin (may be dry or sweaty in early stages)
